Federal aid is available to injured workers in Massachusetts. Workers Compensation laws are designed to provide financial assistance to employees who are hurt or disabled while working. These laws are also designed to assist the families of employees who are killed while performing work-related duties. Usually, Workers Compensation will provide adequate assistance to employees or their families, but in some cases the employee may not be fully compensated for medical bills or lost wages resulting from the injury. In such cases, it may be necessary to contract the services of an experienced Workers Compensation Attorney.
Money received from Workers Compensation must be used for specific purposes. The employee is entitled to receive 2/3 of his or her normal salary for the work he or she misses while recovering from the injury; this will be paid by the employer’s Workers Compensation insurance. This Workers Compensation must be used to pay for medical expenses incurred as a result of the injury, or to provide compensation to the family members of an employee who is killed while performing job duties.
